Is 0.918 typehigh on a vandercook 4

what is the size of type high? I’m working on a vandercook 4; I’m machining a block to stick a polymer logo to. Is 0.918 the size I want my block to be?

0.918 inches is the desired height of the base plus polymer logo (don’t forget to allow for the thickness of the adhesive used to fasten the polymer onto the base). Some Vandercooks were galley height presses at 0.968 inches. The extra 50 thousandths were the height of the sheet metal used in galley construction. I don’t know if the #4 was one of those built at galley height. You could check www.vandercookpress.info.

If you have the serial # for your press, Fritz at NA Graphics can look up whether it was a galley model or not.
