Another Adana 8x5

Hey there,

Like many other people, I am considering an Adana 8x5 for an entry level press. I do however have a few questions before I commit. Any tips or advice would be greatly appreciated.

1. This is my biggest concern, due to its small size; Can you print on paper that is larger than 8x5? For instance - printing the top of a letterhead on an A4 size piece of paper. Is it possible to have the paper overhanging the chase without it getting damaged?

2. Can you, and if so, how easy is it to change the impression depth on this machine? Also, whilst on this topic - can you use debossing/ embossing plates with it?

3. What is the print consistency like with ink coverage and impression depth?

If anybody has any other experiences or anything to add about this press - it would be very much appreciated!

Thanks in advance,

Chris.

Answer to question 1: yes you can print larger sheets, with a little bit of fiddling and imagination.
And to question 2: I reckon that the Adana is too light to do proper embossing/debossing.
Properly set and inked print consistency is reasonable.
Nice machine for smaller jobs, and good to learn/teach on. I’ve got a couple of them for that reason, tend to print more on a larger cast-iron Boston tabletop press.
