Kelsey Side Lever in Virginia (and other auction items)

I’m not one to post comments on press that I’ve seen available for low prices…. but this one is just too good to pass up: The city of Orange Virginia, up near Washington DC is auctioning off a 6x10 side lever Kelsey on Oct 20. It’s listed on Govdeals.com….. which is where city governments sell of their old junk, mostly old police cars.

Here is the link:

Since they’ve got it listed under “kitchen equipment”, and headlined as a “silkscreen printer”, it is doubtful if anyone is even going to bid on it…… so somebody up that way may be able to pick up a VERY good deal. Currently, it’s going for $7.00…. yeah: Seven dollars! (it’ll probably go up, though)

I looks to me to be complete. The only reason I’m not going after it myself is because it’s 1000 miles away, and they won’t ship. So…. if you live up there, go for it!

Winking Cat.
Just curious as to how you know it is a 6X9? I’m not doubting you at all, just curious. Are you going by the serial #? Myself, I can’t tell by looking at the picture.
I was just wondering.
Thanks

I am not 100% sure that it’s a 6x10….. that’s what it appears to be to me. It’s either a 6x10 or a 5x8….. either one is a nice machine.

I agree a nice machine, especially for what it went for.

went for around 125. Some body got a great deal

ok… here’s another good piece of equipment going for absurdly low prices:

It appears to be very similar to my camera. If so, it would be great for shooting negatives. Maybe somebody might want to set up their own darkroom?

Hi there!

Just wanted to say hi and thank you for posting this message! I’m not very active on Briar Press (yet, anyway!) but I check it out every now and then. I’ve been wanting to pick up printing since I spent some time working for a letterpress shop last year.

I saw this post a day or two before the auction ended and was lucky enough to place the winning bid! I live not too far from Orange, VA, and picked it up this morning. It’s a 6x10, in great condition (just covered in dead spiders and cobwebs) and just needs a couple rollers. I’m really excited about it and just wanted to tell you I appreciate the tip!

Thanks again ;)
