Need advice on moving a Hammond Glider saw

This saw is on ground level and I am thinking of moving this with a pickup truck.

So the basic questions are:
How much does the saw weigh?
Can we lay it down in the truck?
Can/should parts be removed to lighten it for moving?
Is there any other thing I should know?

Thanks

Bill

I moved mine in a pickup truck. Lock down the table so it doesn’t move on you when you are in the middle of lifting, and a couple strong souls should be able to lean it against the deck of the truck and tip it up and slide it up and on the bed. A couple 2x4s behind the saw might make it easier to slide the saw up and in as well as easing the slide once up on the bed. I’d remove the slug-holdiong mechanism so it doesn’t get broken or used as a lifting point during the move. I have seen a couple of those which got twisted on broken.

I guess I should have been clear in that it is OK to allow the saw to lie on its side during the move. That will be the easiest way to load it and unload it from floor level to and from your pickup truck.

Weight depends on model. G4’s have a cast iron base and are heavier than the G100. I’ve heard the G100 is about 450 pounds.

Mine’s a G4 and we tried a couple of schemes, then took it apart and moved the pieces separately (and they were still heavy). I pulled off the motor, the sliding table, and the saw body.
