windmill flywheel turns but no platen movement

Hi guys,

I hope some of you might know the symtoms and tell me what is going on. With the clutch engaged, the flywheel turns only giving me slight resistance but there is no movement on the platen at all. The other strange thing is that the flywheel is not locked and can go backwards, still with no movement.

Any ideas anyone?

Oops, it was in the manual.

It was the clucth that needed adjusting. There was a clump of dried ink in between the gears around the inking cylinder which must have dropped in when i cleaned the oil distribution unit last week. That caused the press to a halt.

I pressed the clutch tighter, put a lot of wd40 a few times in between the gears and pushed the flywheel bit by bit. The ink eventually went soft and was crushed in the gears.

Next time i will seal all geared areas with a towel or something when cleaning up the oil lubrication system.
