219th anniversary of printing in Northwest Territory

Today, November 9, marks the 219th year since William Maxwell issued his first Centinel of the North-Western Territory in Cincinnati, November 9, 1793. It was the first printing of record in what are now Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Michigan, and Wisconsin, the Old Northwest Territory, and this weekly newspaper was published until 1796, when Maxwell sold the paper. He moved to near Xenia, Ohio and died there in 1809.
