The Logan Press, Patrick Roe uk , restores these machines-he may have a spare or advise.

Hi Sean,
Can you post a picture. Do you mean the piece with word Arab cast into it? This would be a tricky weld as it needs to be dead parallel. You may struggle to get this as a part unless someone is breaking an Arab C/F.
Or email me a pic at [email protected].
I have restored, moved and engineered many platen presses under the AMR guise.
Kind Wishes,
Jeremy.

I wish to thank Albion press and jonathaneclipse for their responses to my query on the arab platen .The long boss swinger is broken .The break is in a straight line from side to side 20cm above the curve where the top connecting rod joins the long boss swinger .No photo at the moment Jeremy. Thanks again…Peter.

Hi,
You should be able to weld this. I have an excellent guy over here for welding cast iron.
You need a proper welder for this, cast iron is difficult to weld you need to warm the cast up and use cast welding rods.
Definitely get pro help! And please send me a pic if you can. Glad to help.
Jeremy.

Hi
Jeremy, I am going to try my first option of getting a similar part because that part has to be spot on for the rollers. Failing this option I will resort to the welding and will keep you in mind .Thanks a million.. Peter.

A chara
There is an Arab Platen for sale on donedeal.ie which looks like it could be perfect for spare parts. See under ‘Architectural Salvage Reclaim Antiques’.
