Has anyone used any of these newly produced proofing presses?

Hi guys,

Long time lurker, first time poster.

Printing letterpress about 2 years, almost daily for the last year.

I am currently researching affordable proofing presses to allow me to produce short runs of large posters (and that sort of thing).

I am most interested in the ones produced by Drucken & Lernen. Anyone have first hand experience of these?

Here are my options.

Option 1:

Option 2:

Option 3:

Scroll down a bit

Option 4:

Wait until I find a Farley or something similar for sale online

If anyone can provide some help, I’d really appreciate it.

Cheers

Louis

Hello,
where are you coming from?
Are you from Germany? I ask because you tend to a press from drucken und lernen.
Just today I made photos of a proofpress I want to sell, it is a french proofpress, very similar to your Option 4.
Sofadi Showcard, 39x59 cm printing size if I remember correctly, comes with an inkingplate which can be screwed onto the press.
The press is in very good condition, the roller has some small dents and scratches, but nothing grave, just the usual wear.

the relief press on a stand sold by Hunter Penrose, excludes VAT at 20%, it is actually made by Art Equipment Rushden , who sell it at £1434 inclusive of tax, maybe they could sell without the base to save cost and cheapen delivery-Rochat sell a much more expensive but really solid one http://www.harryrochat.com/harry-rochat-relief-proof-press.htm
……..recently smaller ones have come up on ebay.de at ok prices eg http://www.ebay.de/itm/281201987351?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p39...
, but you’d need a friend there to bid and post to wherever you are, also this site occaisionally has them http://www.drukwerkindemarge.org/archief/vraag-aanbod/
it might be easier to purchase from there………..as you have posted links to european websites I presume you are in Uk or adjacent…………

Hi guys,

Thanks for the responses, they are a great help.

I am in Dublin, Ireland.

I should have mentioned, I’m currently working with an Adana 8 x 5. In the coming years I will invest in a Vandercook, FAG, Korrex or something similar.

In the meantime, I want to pick up something relatively inexpensive, like the presses you mention appearing on ebay recently, jonathanjeclipse.

Gummistiefel - if you can give me a good price on that press, and able to ship to Ireland, then we might just have ourselves a business deal.

Can you give me your email address so we can discuss it privately?

Thanks again guys.

Louis

The Sofadi has height adjustment so you can print Sofadi wood type, normal wood and metal type, lino, wood cut and I have proofed etchings as well on one.
It does not have a feed board so for posters lay a piece of wood across over the inked type while lining the paper up in the gripper..

Hi, did you got my message? If not, my email is marius kuklik
(in one word) at yahoo dot de

this has been on the market for about 18 months so far-http://www.maschinensucher.de/A1034636/Hochdruck-Abziehpresse-Nudel-Plamag-Plauen-Model-SZ-1.html
might be worth a look

Thanks jonathanjeclipse, I made an enquiry on that press.

Gummistiefel - I mailed you a few days ago, you get it?
