Help! Heidelberg’s Tripping!

All:

I’ve been experiencing a maddening issue with my windmill, and I wonder if any of you can help. When running the press, it alternates between automatically tripping (even when it’s picked up a sheet) and running constantly (even if it hasn’t picked up a sheet). I’ve tried readjusting the automatic trip a billion times to no avail. Any ideas?

Thanks so much,
Michael

I had a similar issues about 6 months ago but my problem was it would just keep tripping after feeding a few sheets, in the end I just watched the tripping mechanism and the arm seemed to be worn and it seemed to be rocking until it eventually tripped, in the end I put a couple of long elastic bands round the arm and connected to the bar that holds a sheet seperator, it trips as it should now and works fine, hope this helps, regards John

I would check for a vacuum leak along the hoses and ensure the metal clip on the sucker bar is completely covering the opening.

I would also check the thimble filters on the trip control and inside the hose at the trip control (chrome knurled collar).

Plus, I’d check for loose bolts on both the adjustment for paper thickness (by the table crank) and the release lever pivot bolt… if either are loose, the lift and trip can become erratic.

AnonyMouse has it. I have had this problem and its breathing. clean all filters and make sure all your feeder settings are locked. With me it was paper dust and a bad hose to the suckers.

Thank you everyone! I’m certain that the metal clip is covering the hole on the sucker bar, but I’ll check the rest of these fixes tonight. Wish me luck and thanks again!

i took the hose off leading to pump diassembled the valve rand some acetone through it. much improved
