Die-cutting (area needing around die)
Please excuse the beginner question!
What’s the minimum size around a die-cutting die needed for sheet size?
Is it possible to diecut a round corner rectangular die of a 5 x 7 on a 5.25 x 7.5 sheet or does it need a larger sheet size for best results?
If these are letterpressed 2 up then die cut with the 5 x 7 die, would that help if the sheet was run once and flipped?
Thanks!
We die cut circles out of coaster material with less than 1/16” on the four sides so I wouldn’t see any problems doing what you say. Just keep the registration pins away from the die.
The 2-up sounds good, but doing the second die cut on the same sheet may be a bit more wiggly (technical term) than the first one. Honestly, I would probably do them 1-up.
Would be nice to know what press and what paper you are talking about.
Type of press, stock etc ? More info
If running a Heidelberg platen with guides the die board will need to be trimmed pretty close.
Generally larger sheet is better.
I have done hand fed work dead feed to save clients jobs from reprint.
