How to Zinc Plate on Hot Stamper

Hello well-cultured friends,

I just bought a hot stamping machine and do my dies on zinc plates which I was told work very good with hot foil machines, but I’m having problems attaching the plate to the base of the machine, I tried Resistol 5000 which is a contact glue in mx, and it melts and fall sometimes, tried double face paper tape and fall, I think double face plastic face will be same, and double face tape thick and the heat transfer is too weak because of the foam of the thick tape, what do you use?

I managed to attach it with the contact glue and so far it sticks but the transfer on paper fails, I’m on 120 Farenheit and press well and not only does not transfer fully but the paper does not press, am I doing something wrong?

if you want to mount the die with tape, you need the correct stuff. Infinity foil/Universal Engraving can sell to you the brown “heat tape”.
As for 120’F temp,,,, add 100’F to that… 220-280F is where you want to be for foil.

Hughes.com sells it also as a 3M Tape # 444

Hola.

Saludos :)

haha, sorry about the spanish post.

Basically I am explaining the correct use of the contact glue that is commonly used in Mexico for such purpose.
You need to let it dry for a couple minutes before attaching the paper to it, and then to the aluminum or metal base.
I use the exact same method.

For vertical hot stamping machines. For platen hot stamping presses you can get away with double sided adhesive.
It doesn’t walk on the press.
