Die cutting 166lb or 314lb Neenah Wild paper

Does anyone have any experience die-cutting166lb or 314lb Neenah Wild paper? I just want to be sure it’s not going to pucker. My client is interested in using the 314lb Wild, but obviously we don’t want to use it if it will pucker when cut and I don’t want to order it without knowing first.

Thanks in advance!

Neenah rep would prob send a sample. you prob want to use an “LCB” rule in the die. Long Center Bevel.
maybe even consider .937 die height to allow room for ejection rubber if using the 314lb

Thanks for the recommendation on the LCP rule. I’ll definitely check that out. I do have one sample sheet of the paper and could order more since it would take 10-20 sheets to get the pressure dialed in, but I was just hoping someone already knew if there was any issue with the paper to save the time and to know what thickness of paper I was going to be working with before ordering the die.

I would die cut either one of these. But then, my smallest press is a 12x18 kluge.
Just tell your die maker what stock you are going to be working with. If they are experienced, they will have suggestions.

The LCB will be a good asset for this project. Any thick stock, I order it.

Thanks Eric! I’m going to buy some sample sheets. I’m more concerned about whether this paper is prone to cracking/puckering when die-cut (like coaster stock is), but I’ll be sure to ask for the LCB when I order the die.

you can also ask for an “outside bevel” this type of rule does not however work well with multiple up, thick stock, images that are close together. I would recommend “breaker rules” around the outside to relieve stress.
The Outside Bevel throws all of the stress to the outside. It leaves a cleaner, less rounded cut. If you are working a 1up image this may actually be a good option. more aggressive rubber is needed to eject the piece from the die with this type of rule.
