Roller Height
Anyone know why this little press’s rollers aren’t even coming close to making contact with the type? I have to put a 1/8” thick board on top of the composition to get it to start making and impression on paper.

The press-bed may be galley height, i.e., 0.968” instead of 0.918” Place a sort next to the bed bearer, the face of the sort should be level with it. If the sort is lower then you’ll need a 0.050” bedplate under your form.
As Paul said, likely it was designed as ‘galley height’ so you need to bump up the type with a bed plate, or in a galley.
