How do you delete an account?

Not getting into the details, I’d like to delete this account. I tried looking at the account settings but I couldn’t find anything. I also couldn’t find anything in the help page.

I doubt you can.

Just walk away and never sign back in.

If you wanna do a real screw you to history as some have done in the past go back to every post you have ever made and erase the content.

It’s not even a “screw you” to history, archive.org has this site well preserved. If anything it will just trigger the Streisand effect.

You CAN edit your account for a fake email address, but the user ID seems to be permanent. Everyone ever registered here will remain.

Hello exOphilibris - Our creaky website system makes deleting user accounts surprisingly difficult. Removing one account can end up wiping out content by other users. We are working on Briar Press Version 6, but it will not be ready for a while.

If you’d like to close the account, the best we can do right now is to “archive” it, which prevents others from contacting you, but leaves the contents of your posts untouched. Let me know if you’d like us to do this. I’m sorry if it’s less than what you’re looking for.

You are of course welcome to delete individual posts that you don’t want people to see anymore. If a particular post is not showing a Delete button at the bottom of the Edit page, let us know and we’ll try to do it from our side.

Hope this helps a bit.

I’m sorry but have to ask:
keelan-What is the Streisand effect?

The Streisand Effect is objecting to some attention, leading to greater attention than if just ignored.
Streisand objected to the publication of a photograph of her Malibu mansion, which lead to much wider publicity.
