Chase for Line-O-Scribe?

Hi all,

I recently purchased a Morgan Line-O-Scribe and am cleaning it up before trying my hand at it. As I take the time to clean up the press, are there any accoutrements I should keep my eye out for to make my set complete? Currently, I have 3-4 drawers worth of type and ornaments. I have several steel(?) bars that appear to have been used for furniture. Some have padding glued to the bottom and some don’t. I don’t have any quoins or a chase, though the Line-O-Scribe appears to have the ability to lock in a bar about 14 inches from where the paper is held by the press.

Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance!

You can use a chase but you don’t need one. I sometimes use 8x10 and 10x12 C&P chases for a quick change during demonstrations.

You do need some quoins.

The attached image shows how to print using an offset blanket to make your impression.

For a Line O Scribe, you can either use the lock up bars if that specific model is designed for them, or you lock up the form in the bed. You can use a long piece of furniture and a quoin to make a functional dead bar on either end, so you can lock up 4 ways.

You will need furniture, a few quoins, and a brayer for ink. That should be a simple set up to get you going.
