Linotype Mats

I found an old type drawer full of 10 pt. linotype mats with the number 1756 on the side. I would like to know if anybody has any use for these and would like to have them.
Does the number 1756 pertain to the style of type?
Thank you

The matrices are of Intertype - not Linotype - origin and have Ideal with bold as face. Similar to a Century Expanded typeface (a tad thinner of line) the type was common in many job shops and newspapers. The number 1756 is indeed the identifier. If the sidewalls are not crushed nor toes worn, they might well be serviceable. If tired, well, they do make for a nice key ring tag or watch fob; If people still fob their watches.

Fobs? Watches? What is this you speak of?

We all just use cell phones these days: phone, clock and future useless hunk of plastic all in one!

That being said: Thanks for the idea! I now have something to do with the 100 or so thoroughly dead and bent Linotype mats I have.

On-line auction sales sometimes generate interest. 10 point Ideal is a nice looking face, and it might be saleable to someone, depending on whether there are hairlines or not.
