Letterpress in Portland Oregon?

Excuse me if this is the wrong place for this post:

I’m seeking a letterpress that will do nice, hand made business cards in Portland Oregon for my small independent animation studio.

I stumbled across the Briar Press website, and I’m getting fairly interested in learning more about printmaking.

Does anyone know of a studio in the Pacific Northwest that could use an intern or offers classes in classic letterset printing? I would love to eventually buy a small press, and be able to craft my own prints in time.

Hi Chad,

I’m in Portland, too. You can take letterpress printing classes a number of places here: the IPRC, OCAC or PNCA. There are also a lot of letterpress studios here in town, my own - Satsuma Press - included. Try searching the Briar Press Yellow Pages to find someone who might be a good fit for your cards. You can try Oblation Papers and Firefly Studios for starters. There are several letterpress printers in Portland. Even though I am in Iowa, I have visited Portland several times because my son and his family lived there until recently moving down to Corvalis. I have visited most of the letterpress shops in Portland and there is a very active community there.

I thought I would take a minute or two to see what other Portland, OR area letterpress shops I could think of and here is my list:

Advanced Letterpress
Studio Olivine
Egg Press
Stumptown Printers
Pinball Publishing
Crack Press
Red Bat Press
and there is also Jazyrain Design and Letterpress just across the river in Vancouver, WA

There are probably others as well, but like I said - there are several places to choose from in this active area.
