SF area letterpress studios. SF Center for book arts…

…I’m looking in your direction.

I’m gonna be in the SF/Bay area this weekend until tuesday the 12th. I was hoping to meet some letterpress people while out there or see some letterpress related sites.

Any suggestions?

Does anyone know if the James Heagy Printing Supplies Warehouse still exists? I tried the phone number and it was the the wrong number.

I’m a 27 year old designer, who has been letterpress printing for a couple years now and is in the process on opening his own studio.

Hey Kenny,
You should check out the SF Letterpress Yahoo group.

The warehouse Jim Heagy was in may still exist, but he and his letterpress supplies are no longer in it, it was shut down a couple of years ago and most of the stuff was sold or scrapped. Jim did keep some things and I think he’s still selling on eBay, but as far as I know he has no place where you can go look over things.

If you don’t mind travelling south a little way, you’re invited to the monthly meeting of the San Jose Printers’ Guild from 10am to noon on Saturday, in the Hotel Meeting Room in History Park, 1650 Senter Rd, San Jose. And/or come visit the printshop in History Park 12-4 Saturday or Sunday.

If you’d like to come, and need directions or transportation at this end, e-mail me.
