If you are unsure whether your post constitutes an advertisement, weigh its value to others against its value to yourself. Offering assistance or business services in specific response to a question is not, typically, considered advertising. Posting a link to your eBay auction to drive more traffic to it and accelerate bidding is, plainly, advertising.
