Adana 8x5 Ink Slurring
Hi there,
I was wondering if anyone could give some advice on issues I am having with my Adana 8x5.
I have been trying to level the platen by setting wood type in each corner and the mid section of the chase, I feel like I have an even print but I keep getting a slurring effect on some areas.
My initial thought is that it may be the rollers as they are old or the trucks which are an older style with no locking screws.
Would I be right in thinking this could be causing the slipping/smearing of the ink?
Would buying new rollers/trucks remedy this issue?
Thanks,
Kris

It looks to me like your rollers are the cause. Are all the roller hooks well oiled? If the rollers are not turning with the trucks because the trucks are not fastened to the cores that sort of slurring will happen. If you know a machinist that person could drill and tap the trucks for small Allen set screws to cure the problem. If you have room in the sides of the chase for two type-high 12 to 18 pt wide border strips they could act as roller bearers to keep them turning correctly, but those bearers will print too. The best solution is to lock the trucks to the cores.

Thanks Bob, I had a feeling that may be the issue.
From what I can tell the trucks are rolling on the rails and the rollers are rolling on the type but they may be rolling at different speeds.
Fortunately with it being an Adana 8x5 I can purchase a new set of rollers and trucks so I think that might fix the issue, thanks for your help!
