Letterpress Printing without a Letterpress?

Hi Everyone,

I cam across this person doing letterpress-type printing without a letterpress:

Does anyone know how this is/can be done?

I’m curious.

Thanks!

Could be injet printed first. Then the procedure “that replicates the wonderful texture of letterpress printing by pressing uninked printing plates over original designs produced by regular flat printing” could be done with something like a copy press or etching press, maybe?

I’m still pondering this. The registration would have to be perfect to pull this off.

I’d really love to know how this is done. But printing without a letterpress…seems kinda sad. Hats off to them though.

I believe only the large design element is de-bossed, not the text. The overall designs seem to be done specifically to allow this. Unless I’m missing something.
