With the slab serifs it appears to be Engraver’s Bodoni Shaded, which as far as I know didn’t exist in metal type in America. It probably is a computer generated face, which might have any made-up name?!

Paul

I agree with Paul. Most likely a computer-generated design.

If you are simply looking for something that has the same general ‘feel’ in metal type, you might try Engravers Shaded from ATF. This basic style goes way back. I have two fonts of Copperplate, which also has a similar feel, that was patented on February 6, 1877 by MacKellar, Smiths & Jordan.

Ha!! I thought that might be it, but I wasn’t positive!! Thanks guys!!!

This font is Chevalier. Originally a metal type, it was designed by E. A. Neukomm and issued by the Swiss foundry Haas in 1946. Haas was taken over by Linotype in 1989.

Digitally, Chevalier is available from several sources including http://www.linotype.com/ and http://www.fonts.com.

Oh my, it was very hard for me to see the difference, but it’s true. The lines are closer together and are a bit more heavy. Thank you. :)

It’s still available in Barcelona, where a larger part of the Bauer (including Futura and Folio) and some Amsterdam Typefoundry matrices have ended up. They’re still casting it.

Chevalier is available as metal type from Rainer Gerstenberg:
