Letterpress Printers in MT

Hello everyone, I am a longtime lurker first time poster.

I graduated a from college about 6 years ago with a degree in graphic design and have worked at our local newspaper in the commercial printing department for the past 6 years. I found letterpress printing and have been in love for quite some time. I contacted a professor at the college I attended who at one time taught a letterpress class, but that class is no longer is being taught. She directed me to a guy who was selling some presses and now I have been the proud owner of a new style C&P 10x15 for well over a year. I have bought all the recommended books and read the websites, but I feel that I really need to get some hands on experience before I want to dive into using my machine. I feel like I have hit a wall, is there anyone in the Bozeman or Billings Montana area that would be up for training me or in need of an intern?

Thank you all for the great information you are willing to share with new people wanting to learn this craft, it is appreciated!

check the yellow pages on this site, there is a guy named Mike who posts often on this site that’s from Montana.

Jenny,

I am in Bozeman. You can find my shop by looking in the phone book for Lokken Printing Company, Inc. There are a number of hobby shops located in and around the valley. If you look me up I’ll help you find what you need.

Sumner

Well, Sumner’s a whole lot closer than I am. Also MSU picked up quite a pile of stuff from the closure of a local print shop and might be looking to build up it’s print program in the Fine Arts Department (or maybe not). There are a few printers in the Gallatin Valley, and that’s a whole lot closer than Missoula.
