How to understand the year of a Heidelberg Windmill?
Hello,
how can I understand the year of production of my windmill?
I can read a serial number on the bottom right side of the press that’s: 111 716 N
Thanks!
Fabio

In the other pictures provided I can see that Fabio’s press is a black ball. I had heard that black ball presses were all pre-WW2 and that after rebuilding their factory, Heidelberg began producing red balls. Is this not the case?
The switchover from black ball to red ball occurred in the 1950s. I was visiting an acquaintance today who has both, actually only a year a part. He told me the dates and I’d like to say 58/59 but perhaps I have the exact years wrong.
He did point out the one difference between the late black ball and the early red ball. A bearing oil hole.

Hello Gerald,
can you explain me better, please?
Thanks!
