Paul, would you by any chance have any pictures that you could post? Do you recollect that it was wood type or metal type, or both, that were used?

Paul - Could you be referring to Kurt Volk? Here are two designs from his “Gem Box, Vol 2.” He or a friend lived in our area and we bought some of his works at a garage sale years ago.

These are very nice. One of these boxes is listed on abebooks.com. It’s only $1,000!

It states that it was printed in 1941.
