Any chase could be used with the Poco. You just need to find some way to secure it so it doesn’t move during printing.

Check out www.pocoproofpress.blogspot.com and just google poco proof press. You will see some great links for these presses!!!

Note that the Poco is designed as a proof press and therefore the forms used on it are generally on a galley. If using a form in a chase, it is handy to have a plate the thickness of a galley bottom in the bed of the press. Otherwise a whole lot of packing will be required on the cylinder.

I don’t use a chase or a galley for my Poco, though either are plausible. I do use a galley plate (just a sheet of brass or steel, 12.5” x 18.5” x 0.05”), and just make up my form in the bed of the press.

Here’s a lot of pictures: http://sites.google.com/site/pocoproofpress/

My thought is that the bed of a Poco 0 is pretty small. If I use a chase, then I have to lock up the form in the chase, then lock the chase up in the bed of the press. When all’s said and done, I’ve lost perhaps 30 or 40% of my printable area to lock up.

Of course, if you just want quick proofs, it’s perfectly sensible to print from a galley. Most any galley will do; you don’t need one specific to a Poco. Just has to be 12 x 18 or smaller.
