Approximate value of a 12 x 18 chase?

I hope this is the right topic…

Through a twist of fate, I ended up with a 12 x 18 chase, in good condition. No idea what press it came from, it was between two drawers of type I won at an auction.

I have a friend who will buy it, but there is one snag… Neither of us have a clue what it’s worth. So I thought I would ask the Briar community how much they’ve gone for.

If it’s a good friend, why not just trade the chase for ink, paper or press time? I’ve seen high prices of $50 and lows of almost free. I’d figure a chase might be worth as much as a used font of type, five or 10 lbs of opened ink, or a bunch of paper.

I’ll propose that, but she may want to pay actual money for it. It’s a business, so I think she wants to make sure everything is accountable.

There is a 10x15 chase listed on *bay item #280793066388. Starting price is $40. I’ve seen 10x15 Heidelberg windmill chases sell for $100. Craftsman 5x8 new chases are 100+ bucks each.

If the chase didn’t cost you any thing and the person a friend I would give it to them for free.

I know it shows crazy to give things away for free. But, friend are hard to come by, and one day you might need the friend.

If not just sell it for $25 and both you and your friends should be happy.

There is no comparison between a Heidelberg chase and almost any other. The Heidelberg chases are really precision instruments and therefore are priced accordingly.

heidelberg chases are availabe ,thompson chases are worh more , i have some really small cylinders chases i have no idea what model K series heidelberg probably like you i dont have a clue to the value but as your mate wants it let him have it for permanent loan or something then you get it back for sale in the long future and you dont meanly ask him to buy what to be honest you dont need and cost you nothing in the first case , hay its christmas day tommorrow give it him wrapped !!!

check with John Falstrom he might have a 10x15 golden chase.
