press publicity

Hi, y’all. I mostly read the discussions here without commenting, but I’ve learned a whole wealth of things from this site. I’ve had my C&P old style for two and a half years now. I mostly use it for art prints, though I’ve done a bit of regular printing for myself and friends.

The PBS television show “Tennessee Crossroads” (mostly shown in the Southeast) is going to feature my art and both my presses sometime around March. I demonstrated my Line-o-scribe proof press and the C&P (it’s such a looker!) yesterday for their film crew. Here are a few photos from the day.

Nice! I’ll have to check that out. It’s also nice to see there’s another letterpress printer here in Memphis!

Very cool, Michael. I didn’t know either. Small Fires Press, which was here, is just moving to New Orleans. I don’t know of anyone else working right now, though I’ve got one friend with lots of equipment tucked away.

I do hope you have some good support for the floor in your house. Those are heavy presses for older construction.

Yes, thanks for the heads up, Theo. The floor was reinforced before moving the press in. My grandmother would still be horrified that her prized dining room is now my print shop, but the floor is safe.

I’d heard of Small Fires Press, but their website hadn’t been updated in a several years, so I thought they’d shut down. Glad to hear they’re still printing, even if they are moving away. And, if your friend is ever interested in getting rid of some of said equipment, I’d be interested.
