Serif bold not Century but similar

I’m hoping someone here can help. This was in a very old California case, acquired 3rd hand, so no telling how old it is. There are no foundry markings in the pinholes or on any of the faces. I’ve tried searching online with no luck.
Does anyone know what this is?

The point size of your font is fairy small and the photos do not provide much of a sharp image. An actual proof would be much better to have than a photo of the type itself.

That being said, the one immediate thing that I am drawn to is the fact that the J descends below the baseline. This is not a common feature in most faces, so that should narrow down your search.
