wrong quoin key?

I bought a set of hempel quoins off ebay and it came with a key but it’s not catching on any of the “teeth” of the wedges. Is this a hi-speed quoin key I was sent or a different type? Thank you in advance.

Yep, it’s for High-Speeds. Hempel-style quoins use a key with four teeth, sometimes a little bigger in diameter than the shank. In addition to this size, there were also Midget and Jumbo’, each with its own special size key. When looking at a lot of these things, be sure to count the teeth! Frank.

Looks like I’m shopping for a high-speed quoin also now. Thank you Frank!

I ran the old-style Hempel quoins for years on our C&P 12 x 18. When we switched to our Heidelbergs, we also switched to high speed quoins.
I’ll bet John at Letterpressthings.com has a few of the Hempel quoins.
NA Graphics has the high-speed quoins.
BTW, I’d complain to the eBay seller and try to get the right key from him/her first.
