Multiple line slugs made by Linotype or similar machine?

Has there ever been a machine like Linotype that produces slugs with two or more lines of type at a time? If so, any information would be greatly appreciated.

We had several Linotypes, they only produce one line at a time.

Not exactly what is asked, but Linotype did have a method of casting a display face that could fit over two matched text slugs. It used in grocery ad work.
