Hi. I’m new and am unsure if this is the correct place for this please point me in the right direction.
I have a 1841 Albion tabletop hand press. It does not have a tympan or frisket. I would like to get these made and attached. I’m functionally in the middle of nowhere, but would be able to get the press to Newcastle, NSW, Australia.
Jennifer, I have made up a “worksheet” for making a tympan and frisket for a hand press, and you can easily do it using readily-available materials. Contact me through Briar Press with your email address and I will email it to you. I am also happy to assist with “coaching” if you wish, at no charge. They are not difficult to make if you have any skill with materials, the trickiest part is the hinges.
Also, I maintain a Worldwide Hand Press Database and I would like to add the press to it, with information I can request in email.
