David McMillan

Does anyone know if Dr. David McMillan/MacMillan is still online with his very important website - the website appears to be on. I am trying to contact him with a technical question about Monotype flat matrices - I would like to know the correct dimensions: length, width, thickness, and whether the bevels are necessary for casting on a Thompson caster.

Yes, he’s still running circuitousroot, but i think some pages were lost at some point. I have the specs for the flat mats somewhere, they are in the Matlas from Paul Duensing. I’ll see if I can post an image. Bevel not needed for a Thompson.

This link is your best bet: there are scanned diagrams of both the beveled Lanston display mats, and mats made specifically for the Thompson.
