Broken wood type

If you have pieces of broken wood type you are going to throw away (or otherwise unwanted), please consider sending them to me instead for my research project?

These *do not* need to include all the pieces of any given sort, *do not* need to be mendable, and do not need to be identifiable as part of a specific character or typeface.

I can pay for shipping—and also send you a print made with broken wood type & credit you on my project website, if you’d like. (I’m not looking for type that needs to be paid for beyond covering shipping, right now.) Thank you!

(Summary: I recently worked with Penland School of Craft’s broken wood type, printing & making a new storage space for it. This inspired me to do more with broken wood type back at home, with my own small type collection. I’m interested in printing with more broken wood type—including to encourage folks not to discard it!—as well as documenting the different ways different kinds of wood type has broken, and getting practice mending & protecting used wood type. In case anyone is worried—no type is being deliberately broken, and any type that looks at risk of further breakage is *not* being printed with. My goal is type preservation over print use
