Letterpress Workshops in San Jose, July 10 or August 15

Join us for a summer evening of letterpress printing at History Park, on Friday, July 10 from 5:30 to 8:30 PM. You can design and compose your own poster, choosing vintage wood type, ornaments, and engravings from our collection.

The summer evening natural light allows us to expand our work space outside in the shade behind the print shop. There will be up to four participants sharing two presses outside and inside.

You will be able to print six or more copies of your poster as time allows, and be able to choose two ink colors using handheld brayers. No previous printing knowledge is needed, but experienced participants can jump ahead in their work. Cost: $95 per person.

Or join us August 15, 2026 to set metal type and print cards on a tabletop press. This workshop from 10 AM to 2:30 PM introduces you to letterpress printing, from hand typesetting through printing on a tabletop C&P Pilot press or Kelsey 5×8. You will design your own card to pass out to friends or send in an envelope or as a postcard. Cost $120 per person.
