Table Top Ink Disc Problem…

I recently purchased a great little Craftsman table-top clamshell press (basically a 6.5 x 10” Pilot imitation). Everything works perfectly, except the ink disc will not properly rotate. The inking disc is properly seated in its collar. It appears the “foot” that kicks the apparatus that turns the disc just doesn’t push far enough.

I’m curious if anyone else has encountered this problem or if there is an obvious solution that I’m missing…

Attached is an image of the “foot” and whatnot that should turn the disk when the press is closed.

Thank you so much for any help provided…

The disc lever should be on the other side of the disc lever cam (or foot), not seated in it as you have illustrated. So that the disc lever can move freely.

Paul has a good eye. You should be able to remove that operating lever and replace it ending on the other side of that actuating cam. The cam itself has a set screw, which when loosened, will allow the cam to rotate on the shaft to allow more or less movement of the lever and resutling in more or less rotation of the disk.

Ok guys. I appreciate the responses… I removed the set screw for the cam, however it is jammed and cannot be moved.

Any suggestions?

This is particularly odd, as I bought the press in Minneapolis 2 weeks ago and used it in the studio it was set up in. We didn’t touch this part of the press and it was moved via the front seat of my car… I am at a loss as to how this stopped working.

Yikes.

If anyone out there has a similar press up and running, would you mind taking a quick photo so I can see exactly what I’m not doing correctly?

try removing the ink disc, it might help.

I don’t think the part is out of position on the shaft, you just need to lift the part that strikes it so that in the position shown, it is sitting on top of the tab instead of being caught behind it.
