Challenge Proof Press 2028KA

Hi everyone, just bought a 2028KA proofing press from Challenge and I wonder if anyone use one of them here. It seems to me it should be used with a galley but I’m not sure and I really want to know. My packing now on the press is really thick and I already have a slim steel plate on the bed of the press. Anyone?

The bed plate should be .050, the thickness of a galley. You’d need extra packing if it isn’t.

You should also check the cylinder undercut to determine a baseline amount of packing. It is likely 0.040, but it could also be 0.070”.

Also send me an email with your serial number, press name and location and I’ll add it to the Challenge press census: http://vandercookpress.info/vanderblog/challenge/census/
