Golding? Press Identification?

Hi,

I recently purchased this press from a gentleman who described it as a “Golding Side Handle Platen Press”, however I can’t find any identifying marks and also the size of the chase (9 3/4” x 7”) does not match any Golding press I can find details of.

Can anyone help identify this press?

Many thanks,

Mark

I would be very surprised if this press was American in origin. It has more in common with tabletop presses I have seen from Germany or Japan. Where did you find it?

DGM

That could make sense, it was purchased from someone in the UK. Interestingly though, the internal chase dimensions seem to be imperial rather than metric… Any idea who may have made it?

My first guess is Hogenforst as at the link below, this has some similarities but is two rollers.

You could be right… A little googling found this document https://www.flickr.com/photos/27498201@N07/3545372407

I am guessing it sold in the UK as The Premier
