Rider Rollers

Could someone post a picture of a rider roller? I’m struggling with ghosting with photopolymer and would like to know exactly what a rider roller is, looks like, does and how it connects.

Theres other things one can try, is there enough grip/trim on the sheet to allow the forme to be re-imposed turned through 90 degrees?, Sometimes the ghosting now falls where it does’nt matter.

A rider roller should fix ghosting if you can find or make one but, ghosting can be caused by slipping of the trucks against the rails at the bottom of their cycle. The roller passes down over and inks the forme. This leaves an image on the roller of “less” ink. When the roller reaches the bottom of the rail it reverses direction very quickly. If the trucks do not change direction in unison with the roller arms but instead lose traction for an instant, then when the roller comes back up over the forme it has changed position and deposits a “new” layer of ink on the edges of the image equal to the amount of slip.
Things to check would be oil on the trucks and rails. Clean thoroughly and use care when oiling. Adding something sticky or tacky to just the bottom section of rail might help. Also, checking to see that the roller arm springs are in good condition.

Also, you might post a picture of the saddles on your press to see what rider roller mounts it may have and also, I think there was a post on this board within the last year of someone who manufactures or refurbishes rider rollers.
